A trip down memory lane! It was really great to see what has happened to our old campus! It's grown quite a bit! Our tour guide, Beverly, told us some things we never knew about the school building, like when it was being built back in the late '50s, it was constructed so it could be used as a bomb shelter!!! And that there was a way to crawl underneath the building! She had some great stories about how someone had to crawl under there in order to run lines for computers and electricity during a building upgrade!!! But we also were able to tell her a few things that she didn't know!

Jake Schrum with Dr. Pat Gibbons,
former Math teacher at DHS.
Jake is now President of Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.

The glass louvers that were above the lockers were removed so air conditioning could be installed.

Access to crawl space underneath the old "A" wing! Entrance is inside the boys' bathroom through a custodial closet. If the guys had known about this back then, none of them would have ever gotten caught smoking!!!
Exit to crawl space at other end of the building inside the phone system closet.
"Varmit" trap for the crawl space!!!! Ewww!!
I believe the door in the foreground is to
Miss Moore's old classroom!
My old homeroom!
Big Red!!! He's been fully restored and now stands guard at the new main entrance!

We had a nice turn-out for the tour!
