St. Augustine, FL
September 24-25-26, 2003 - Got to St. Augustine on the 24th and checked out the visitors' center to see what we could do around there. We discovered that the town has a heck of a history since it's one of our country's oldest cities! We bought tram tickets and rode all over town stopping to go into museums, tour Flagler University, and see a church that Henry Flagler built in the memory of his daughter. We tried to go on a "ghost tour" one night, but that didn't work out. Patrick drove up from Daytona and went on a nighttime carriage ride. The driver's name was a cool black guy named Mike, and his horse was Rufus. We learned a lot from the stories he had to tell about the city, the houses, ghosts, and Ponce de Leon! We headed out again towards Kentucky on the 26th.

Shot from a moving tram ... this street is purported to be "the most beautiful street in America."
|
We were told that this street has been used
in many movies.

I declined to go with Mike in here ... he later told me it was not worth the price of admission ($10).
