Smokey Mountains
September 27, 2003 - After touring Biltmore House, we headed towards Knoxville, TN via Smokey Mountains National Park and a portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway, said to be the most scenic drive in America. I'll have to take someone's word for it because it rained almost the whole day. It was still beautiful, though.

After seeing Nature in all its breathtaking glory, we made the mistake of taking the road out of the park into the Gatlinburg / Pigeon Forge / Seviersville area of Tennessee, the home of (*gag*) Dollywood!!! I never saw the likes of such a tourist trap in all my life! It was White Trash Heaven!!! Dolly Parton has turned her hometown into a wasteland of cheap motels, amusement parks, and shops selling junk. And the traffic was horrible. It took us an hour and a half to go 25 miles. I can't image what this area must be like during the summer. I bet the "old timers" around there just love her for all this. I didn't waste my time taking any photos. It was too revolting.
